Security personnel, including officers of the Nigeria Customs Service, the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force, have reportedly withdrawn from parts of a major highway in Kebbi State following repeated attacks by Lakurawa militants.
The development has raised concerns among motorists and residents who rely on the route, as the withdrawal of security personnel could expose travellers to further attacks and criminal activities.
The Lakurawa group has continued to pose a security challenge in parts of the North-West, particularly along border communities and routes connecting Kebbi with neighbouring areas.
The situation underscores growing concerns over the safety of major highways in the region and the need for stronger security measures to protect commuters and communities
