The Katsina State Government has intensified its fight against banditry with the deployment of 23 Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs), 200 pickup trucks, motorcycles, drones and other surveillance equipment to security agencies across the state.
The equipment has been provided to the military, police and the state’s Community Watch Corps as part of a broader security strategy aimed at improving intelligence gathering, surveillance and rapid response to attacks.
The government is also strengthening its Community Watch Corps, which has about 10,000 personnel, to complement conventional security forces operating across Katsina’s 34 local government areas.
Officials said the increased coordination between security agencies and the Nigerian Air Force has enhanced surveillance operations and helped identify bandit hideouts in forested and rocky areas.
The state has also classified its 34 local government areas according to their level of insecurity and deployed immigration officers along major highways to monitor movements and share intelligence.
The measures are part of ongoing efforts by the Katsina government and security agencies to disrupt bandit operations and improve the safety of residents across the state.
