Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, CON, has approved the relaxation of the curfew imposed on Mubi Local Government Area following an improvement in the security situation in the commercial city.
Under the revised arrangement, vehicular movement, including tricycles and electric bicycles, will now be restricted from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. daily, while pedestrians will be allowed to move until 10:00 p.m., pending further directives from the state government.
The Governor commended residents of Mubi for their cooperation and compliance with the earlier curfew, noting that their support contributed significantly to the restoration of peace in the area.
According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Humwashi Wonosikou, Governor Fintiri said the adjustment was aimed at maintaining security while allowing residents and businesses to return gradually to normal economic activities.
He described Mubi as one of the major commercial centres in Adamawa State and the North East, stressing its importance to trade, agriculture and cross border commerce.
Governor Fintiri said his administration remained committed to protecting lives and property without unnecessarily disrupting legitimate economic activities, while urging residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies.
He warned miscreants and criminal elements against attempting to disrupt the peace in Mubi, stressing that anyone found engaging in criminal activities would face the full weight of the law.
The Governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working with traditional rulers, community leaders, youth and women groups to consolidate the security gains recorded in the area.
He urged residents to continue supporting peace efforts to ensure that Mubi remains safe, stable and conducive for businesses and economic activities.
