Airtel Nigeria has strengthened its nationwide customer service network with the unveiling of 350 new retail shops, a move aimed at improving access to telecommunications services, enhancing customer experience and supporting the company’s growing subscriber base across the country.

The expansion reflects Airtel’s commitment to bringing its products and services closer to customers by providing convenient locations where subscribers can access a wide range of telecommunications solutions, including SIM registration, SIM replacement, data and voice subscriptions, device purchases, customer support and digital financial services.

Company officials said the new retail outlets are strategically located across major cities and emerging communities to ensure that more Nigerians have easier access to quality customer service. The initiative is expected to reduce waiting times, improve service delivery and strengthen the company’s physical presence in both urban and underserved areas.

According to Airtel, the expansion forms part of its broader strategy to deepen digital inclusion and support Nigeria’s rapidly evolving telecommunications sector. By increasing its retail footprint, the company aims to bridge service gaps, enhance customer engagement and provide faster access to innovative digital solutions tailored to the needs of individuals and businesses.

The newly launched retail shops will also serve as centres for educating customers on the effective use of Airtel’s products and services, including broadband connectivity, mobile internet, enterprise solutions and digital payment platforms. Company representatives noted that face to face interactions remain an important component of customer service despite the growing adoption of digital self service channels.

Industry observers believe the expansion will contribute to increased competition within Nigeria’s telecommunications industry by improving accessibility and encouraging greater customer satisfaction. A wider retail network is also expected to strengthen Airtel’s market position as operators continue investing in infrastructure and service quality to meet rising consumer demand.

Beyond improving customer access, the initiative is expected to create employment opportunities through the recruitment of retail personnel, technical support staff and sales representatives. The rollout is also likely to stimulate economic activities within host communities by supporting local suppliers, logistics providers and other businesses connected to the retail value chain.

The expansion comes at a time when demand for reliable telecommunications services continues to rise, driven by increased internet usage, digital commerce, online education and remote work. As more Nigerians embrace digital technologies, accessible customer service centres are becoming increasingly important in ensuring seamless connectivity and prompt resolution of customer concerns.

Airtel reaffirmed its commitment to investing in network expansion, digital innovation and customer service excellence. The company said it will continue to strengthen its infrastructure and retail presence to support Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda while delivering reliable, affordable and innovative telecommunications services to millions of subscribers.

With the addition of 350 new retail shops, Airtel is expected to further improve customer engagement, expand access to digital services and reinforce its role as one of Nigeria’s leading telecommunications providers, while contributing to economic growth through investment, innovation and job creation.
