According to a report by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Chairman of the Senator Abdulaziz Yari Palliative Distribution Committee, Dr Lawal Liman, disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja that Yari had approved the distribution of 145 truckloads of maize and 42,000 bags of 10 kilogram Semovita to internally displaced persons and vulnerable households across Zamfara State.

Liman said beneficiaries would be drawn from the state’s 14 local government areas as part of ongoing efforts to cushion the effects of economic hardship and improve food security.

He explained that each local government area would receive 10 truckloads of maize and 3,000 bags of Semovita for distribution, while the remaining truckloads had been reserved to strengthen the distribution process and ensure assistance reached communities most affected by the prevailing economic challenges.

According to Liman, about 210,000 residents across Zamfara’s 147 political wards have been targeted to benefit from the latest phase of the intervention.

He noted that the programme reflects Yari’s longstanding commitment to supporting vulnerable families, particularly in the face of persistent economic and social challenges.

Liman further stated that, over the past three years, the humanitarian programme has provided food items, agricultural inputs and other relief materials to more than 1.7 million residents across Zamfara State.

He urged residents to continue praying for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Yari, seeking divine wisdom and strength to tackle the country’s economic and security challenges.

Liman also reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to ensuring a transparent, fair and orderly distribution process, with all approved relief materials delivered promptly to their intended beneficiaries.
