Damaturu, Yobe State – The Yobe State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with the alleged theft of a commercial tricycle in Potiskum Local Government Area of the state.

According to the police, the incident occurred on July 23, 2026, when a commercial tricycle rider was allegedly attacked after conveying a passenger to the Dubai area of Potiskum.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, said the suspect allegedly posed as a passenger before administering a suspected intoxicating substance to the 25-year-old tricycle operator, causing him to lose consciousness. The suspect was then alleged to have taken possession of the tricycle.

Following a distress report received at the Potiskum Divisional Police Headquarters, operatives launched an investigation that led to the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of the stolen tricycle.

The police said the arrest represents another breakthrough in efforts to combat robbery, theft, and other organised criminal activities across the state.

The Yobe State Police Command has assured residents that investigations are ongoing to uncover further details surrounding the incident and ensure that anyone found culpable faces the law.

The command also urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely information that can assist in preventing crime and improving safety across communities.
