Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Minister Nyesom Wike has approved the promotion of 3,592 civil servants following the successful completion of the 2025 promotion exercise conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission.

According to a report by Daily Trust, the approval reflects the FCT Administration’s commitment to staff welfare and career development in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, announced the development, noting that promotion examinations for senior officers were held from July 1 to 3, while junior staff sat for their examinations on July 10.

He commended Wike for providing the necessary support that enabled the commission to carry out the exercise successfully and efficiently.

Ezeh disclosed that the minister has also directed the immediate commencement of the 2026 promotion exercise to ensure eligible officers are promoted as and when due without unnecessary delays.

According to him, the directive is aimed at complementing the massive infrastructural development taking place across the Federal Capital Territory by ensuring workers also benefit through improved welfare and career progression.

He said the administration remains committed to recognising the contributions of civil servants while sustaining reforms that promote efficiency and professionalism in the public service.

The commission chairman also praised FCT civil servants for their peaceful conduct throughout the 2025 promotion exercise and encouraged officers preparing for the 2026 exercise to begin early, reminding them that promotions are merit based, competitive and subject to the availability of vacancies.

He further appreciated the leadership of the Joint Union Action Committee, JUAC, for its cooperation, which contributed to the smooth conduct of the promotion exercise
