The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two suspects linked to cattle theft while also thwarting a suspected abduction attempt in separate operations across the state.

According to the police, the suspects were apprehended following intelligence-led operations that led officers to recover stolen cattle believed to have been taken from local herders. Authorities said the arrests form part of ongoing efforts to combat livestock theft, which has become a growing concern for farmers and pastoral communities in parts of Ogun State.

In a separate incident, security operatives successfully foiled a suspected kidnapping attempt after responding swiftly to a distress call. The prompt intervention forced the suspected abductors to flee the scene before they could carry out their plan, while the intended victim was rescued unharmed.

The Ogun State Police Command said investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest other members of the criminal syndicates who may have escaped during the operations. It added that efforts are also underway to determine the full circumstances surrounding both incidents.

Police spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, reiterated the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state. She urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or criminal activities to the nearest security agency.

The command further assured the public that it will continue to intensify intelligence gathering, surveillance and coordinated operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks involved in cattle rustling, kidnapping and other violent crimes.

The successful operations underscore the police’s sustained efforts to strengthen security in Ogun State while reassuring residents that proactive measures remain in place to curb criminal activities.
