The newly inaugurated Executive Chairman of Yola South Local Government Council, Hon. Abdulhamid Alkali Aminu, has commenced his administration with an inspection of the local government secretariat, where he identified deteriorating office facilities and inadequate working spaces for staff.

According to a statement from the Yola South Local Government Council, the inspection, conducted on his first official day in office, was aimed at assessing the condition of the secretariat and identifying the immediate challenges affecting the working environment and effective service delivery.

During the inspection, the Chairman visited various departments and offices within the secretariat, where he observed that several facilities were in poor and deteriorating conditions.

He also discovered that a number of staff members lacked suitable office spaces and the necessary working environment required to effectively carry out their official responsibilities.

Hon. Abdulhamid interacted with members of staff during the inspection and listened to their concerns regarding the challenges affecting their daily operations and productivity.

The inspection enabled the Chairman to gain a firsthand understanding of the condition of the secretariat and identify areas requiring urgent intervention.

Speaking on the state of the facilities, Hon. Abdulhamid stressed the importance of maintaining a clean, organised and functional working environment for government employees.

He said a conducive workplace was essential for improving staff morale, enhancing productivity and ensuring efficient service delivery to residents of Yola South Local Government Area.

The Chairman reaffirmed his commitment to rehabilitating the local government secretariat, upgrading office facilities and creating a more conducive working environment for staff.

He said the administration would prioritise the restoration of the secretariat as part of its broader efforts to strengthen the local government system and improve the quality of services delivered to the people.

The inspection marked one of the first official activities of the new administration and underscored the Chairman’s stated commitment to addressing institutional challenges and improving the efficiency of the Yola South Local Government Council.
