The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has launched a nationwide special patrol operation and unveiled a 12 point operational strategy aimed at reducing road crashes and improving traffic safety across the country.
The initiative is part of the corps’ intensified efforts to enhance highway surveillance, enforce traffic regulations, and ensure safer travel for motorists during periods of increased road activity.
According to the FRSC, the special patrol will involve the deployment of personnel and operational equipment to strategic locations nationwide to monitor traffic flow, respond swiftly to emergencies, and enforce compliance with road safety laws.
The corps said its 12 point operational strategy focuses on tackling major causes of road traffic crashes, including speeding, dangerous driving, overloading, use of worn out tyres, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and other traffic violations.
The FRSC also said officers have been directed to strengthen public awareness campaigns, conduct routine vehicle inspections, and collaborate with other security and emergency response agencies to improve road safety.
Motorists were urged to obey traffic rules, avoid reckless driving, ensure their vehicles are roadworthy, and cooperate with FRSC personnel throughout the duration of the special operation.
The corps reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property on Nigeria’s roads, stressing that sustained enforcement and public cooperation remain essential to reducing road traffic crashes nationwide.
