Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has sworn in 23 newly appointed commissioners and a new Head of Service, charging them to uphold integrity, accountability and dedication in the discharge of their responsibilities.
The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Government House in Gombe, marks the formal inauguration of the state’s new Executive Council, which is expected to drive the implementation of the administration’s development agenda across key sectors.
Addressing the appointees, Governor Inuwa urged them to see their appointments as a call to selfless service rather than an opportunity for personal gain. He stressed the importance of teamwork, transparency and prudent management of public resources in delivering meaningful development to the people of Gombe State.
The governor said his administration remains committed to improving infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment and economic development, adding that the newly constituted cabinet has a crucial role to play in achieving these objectives.
He also tasked the commissioners with ensuring that government policies and programmes are effectively implemented while maintaining close engagement with the people to better understand their needs and expectations.
The newly sworn-in Head of Service was urged to strengthen the state civil service by promoting professionalism, discipline and efficiency in public administration. Governor Inuwa emphasised that a productive and motivated civil service remains central to effective governance and service delivery.
Speaking on behalf of the appointees, one of the commissioners expressed appreciation to the governor for the confidence reposed in them, assuring residents that the new cabinet would work diligently to justify the trust placed in it.
The inauguration signals the beginning of a new phase in Governor Inuwa’s administration as the commissioners assume responsibility for their respective ministries and begin implementing policies aimed at accelerating socio-economic development across Gombe State.
Political observers say the performance of the new Executive Council will be closely monitored, particularly as the state continues efforts to improve public services, attract investment and deliver on key development priorities.
