Nigeria’s Ambassador designate to the State of Israel, Ambassador Nkechi Linda Ufochukwu, has arrived at the Nigerian Mission in Tel Aviv to begin her diplomatic assignment.
According to a report by The Guardian, Ambassador Ufochukwu described her posting as the beginning of a new chapter and expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Federal Government and the people of Nigeria for the confidence reposed in her.
“I am humbled to arrive in Tel Aviv as Nigeria’s Ambassador designate to the State of Israel. I am excited for the work ahead in advancing Nigeria Israel relations,” she said.
The ambassador designate said her priority would be to deepen cooperation between Nigeria and Israel in critical sectors, including trade, innovation, security and people to people relations.
Her deployment forms part of the Federal Government’s ongoing posting of newly appointed ambassadors following the receipt of agrément from host countries.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 65 of the 69 ambassadors designate approved by President Tinubu have received approval from their host governments and have proceeded to their respective diplomatic missions after completing the mandatory induction programme.
The ministry disclosed that the remaining four ambassadors designate are still awaiting formal approval from their host countries.
Ambassador Ufochukwu’s assumption of duty is expected to strengthen the longstanding diplomatic, economic and cultural relations between Nigeria and the State of Israel.
