Eight schoolchildren and one teacher rescued from the recent abduction incident in Oyo State are still receiving treatment in hospital, according to the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the facility handling their care.
The CMD disclosed that the victims remain under medical supervision as doctors continue to monitor their physical and emotional well-being following their traumatic experience. He noted that while some of the rescued victims have recovered sufficiently and been discharged, others are still undergoing treatment and observation.
According to the hospital management, the affected children and their teacher were admitted for comprehensive medical examinations and psychological support after being rescued. Medical personnel are also providing counselling and trauma care to help the victims cope with the emotional effects of the incident.
The abduction sparked widespread concern across Nigeria and once again highlighted growing fears over the safety of schools and children in some parts of the country. Security experts and community leaders have since called for stronger measures to protect educational institutions and prevent similar attacks.
Government officials have assured the public of continued support for the victims and their families, while security agencies are said to be intensifying efforts to investigate the incident and bring those responsible to justice.
As the victims continue their recovery, parents and residents have expressed gratitude for their safe return and have urged authorities to strengthen security arrangements to ensure that such incidents do not recur.
