Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and the 2023 presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Adewole Adebayo, have expressed sadness over the death of former Aso Rock chaplain, Reverend William Okoye.
In separate condolence messages, the two political figures described the late cleric as a devoted servant of God who dedicated his life to promoting peace, unity, and moral values in society.
Peter Obi said Reverend Okoye’s passing was a great loss to the Christian community and the nation, noting that the late chaplain’s commitment to spiritual guidance and nation-building would be remembered by many.
Similarly, Adewole Adebayo paid tribute to the late cleric, describing him as a man of integrity and compassion whose teachings and counsel positively impacted countless lives.
Reverend William Okoye served as chaplain at the Presidential Villa, where he played a significant role in providing spiritual leadership and counselling to government officials and worshippers.
As tributes continue to pour in from religious and political leaders, many have prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and for strength and comfort for his family, friends, and the Christian faithful during this period of mourning.
