A former Plateau State Commissioner for Works and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Aminu Zang, has rejected his inclusion in the All Progressives Congress Presidential and Governorship Campaign Council in the state, insisting that he remains loyal to the PDP.
Zang’s name appeared at number 254 on the published list of the APC Campaign Council’s Central Planning Committee. However, he said he was neither consulted nor informed before the appointment was announced. In a statement issued on Wednesday, titled “Clarification on My Inclusion in the 2027 Plateau State Presidential and Governorship Campaign Council, Central Planning Committee,” Zang reaffirmed his commitment to the PDP.
He expressed appreciation to those who considered him suitable for the assignment but stressed that he remained a committed member of the PDP, specifically from the RAINBOW COALITION faction.
Speaking in a telephone interview, Zang said his inclusion in the APC campaign council was made without his knowledge or approval.
He explained that although he was not angry about the development, he could not accept a position in the APC campaign team while remaining a member of the PDP. On his political position ahead of the 2027 general elections, Zang said he supported the position of Nyesom Wike regarding President Bola Tinubu’s re-election but would not support the incumbent Plateau State governor.
He also declared support for the PDP candidate, Chief Kefas Wungak Ropshik, adding that the party was yet to constitute its campaign council. Zang called on political stakeholders to maintain peace ahead of the 2027 elections, urging them to approach the electoral process with maturity, mutual respect and a sense of responsibility. He also appealed to party members, supporters and the public to promote tolerance, civility and peaceful political participation, while praying for divine guidance throughout the electoral process.
Former Plateau Commissioner Aminu Zang has rejected his appointment to the APC campaign council, saying he was included without his consent.
He has reaffirmed his membership of the PDP and declared support for the party’s candidate in the 2027 governorship election.
