Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has inaugurated a 3,000-member All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections, charging members to work towards securing victory for the party across the state.
The inauguration took place on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Yola, bringing together party leaders, political stakeholders and representatives from the state’s 21 local government areas.
Fintiri, who chairs the campaign council, urged members to intensify grassroots mobilisation and ensure the APC wins at polling units, wards and local government levels.
He described the composition of the council as a reflection of Adamawa’s diversity, political experience and broad representation.
The governor warned members against anti-party activities, insisting that everyone entrusted with responsibilities must demonstrate commitment to the party’s success.
He also directed the newly inaugurated committees to begin their assignments without delay and work collectively towards achieving the party’s objectives in 2027.
The APC governorship candidate, Alhaji Ahmed Tijjani Galadima Aminu, commended Fintiri for approving what he described as an inclusive campaign structure.
Galadima noted that the council accommodated interests from different senatorial zones and communities across the state.
He pledged to build on the achievements of the Fintiri administration if elected governor in 2027.
The campaign council’s co-chairman, retired Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa, thanked the governor for the confidence reposed in him.
Marwa urged members to maintain peace, unity, discipline and cooperation throughout the campaign period, describing collective commitment as important to the party’s preparations.
The Adamawa APC Chairman, Alhaji Hamza Bello Madagali, also commended the turnout at the inauguration, describing it as evidence of unity and commitment among party members.
He appealed to stakeholders who were not included in the initial council composition to remain patient, assuring them of opportunities for participation in subsequent activities.
The APC National Vice Chairman, North-East, Barrister Idris Shuaibu, urged members to demonstrate sincerity and dedication in carrying out their responsibilities.
Shuaibu also received defectors from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Labour Party, formally presenting them to the Adamawa State APC chairman.
Meanwhile, Fintiri directed all newly inaugurated committees to submit detailed work plans to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government on or before Friday, November 6, 2026.
The Secretary of the Campaign Council and Secretary to the State Government, Awwal Tukur, said the directive was intended to ensure the timely review, harmonisation and approval of the committees’ proposals.
He explained that the work plans must contain implementation strategies, timelines and budget estimates covering grassroots mobilisation, media engagement and stakeholder inclusion.
The inauguration marks a major step in the Adamawa APC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections, with the party seeking to consolidate its structures and expand its support across the state.
