RTX has raised its 2026 revenue and profit forecasts after strong demand for commercial aerospace services and military equipment lifted third-quarter earnings and pushed its order backlog to a record $340 billion.

The US aerospace and defence group, which owns Pratt & Whitney and Raytheon, reported third-quarter sales of $24.97 billion for the period ended September 30, up 11 per cent from a year earlier. Adjusted earnings rose 33 per cent to $2.26 per share, beating analysts’ average estimate of $1.78.

RTX now expects adjusted earnings of $7.65 to $7.75 per share for 2026, compared with its previous forecast of $7.10 to $7.25. It also raised its annual sales outlook to between $97 billion and $97.5 billion, from $95 billion to $96 billion.

Chief Executive Officer Chris Calio said the company secured more than $81 billion in new commercial and defence orders during the quarter, taking its total backlog to a record level.

All three business segments recorded higher revenue. Collins Aerospace sales increased 10 per cent, supported by stronger commercial aircraft equipment demand, while Pratt & Whitney revenue also rose 10 per cent. Raytheon recorded 14 per cent growth, driven by naval programmes and demand for air and land defence systems.

The results reflect sustained airline spending on maintenance and continued military investment as governments respond to heightened geopolitical tensions.

RTX also raised its 2026 free cash flow forecast to between $9 billion and $9.2 billion.
