About 80 golfers are expected to converge on Asaba, Delta State, on November 7 for a retirement championship celebrating veteran Nigerian golfer Rita Izoje, popularly known as Lady Pro.
The event, scheduled to take place at Ibori Golf and Country Club, will recognise Izoje’s more than three decades of involvement in golf and her 35 years of service in the civil service.
The championship is expected to attract golfers, friends, associates and well-wishers who will gather to celebrate her contributions to the sport and public service.
Izoje represented Nigeria at the 2018 All Africa Challenge Trophy in Ghana, competing alongside other members of the national team. Beyond her playing career, she has also contributed to golf administration and served with the Delta State Sports Commission.
Her long-standing association with Ibori Golf and Country Club has been an important part of her journey in the sport, where she has built relationships with fellow players and other members of the golfing community.
Organisers said the championship would provide an opportunity to celebrate her achievements both on and off the course, while recognising the impact she has made through competitive golf, sports administration and public service.
Participation in the event is expected to be limited to 80 golfers, making it a special gathering in honour of a career spanning several decades.
The retirement championship will combine sporting competition with tributes to Izoje’s dedication and service, offering colleagues and admirers an opportunity to acknowledge her lasting contribution to Nigerian golf.
