The funeral mass for late Nollywood veteran actor, Olu Jacobs, is underway at This Present House, Freedom Way, Lekki Phase I, Lagos, with family members, colleagues and dignitaries gathered to pay their final respects.
Jacobs’ widow, veteran actress Joke Silva, and their sons, Olusoji and Olugbenga Jacobs, are attending the service. The late actor’s casket, decorated with flowers, was placed in front of the church as the funeral mass began.

Among the dignitaries present are Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, and his wife, Oluremi Hamzat, Lagos State First Lady, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, former Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, and former Ekiti State First Lady, Bisi Adeleye-Fayemi.
Entertainment entrepreneur Dare Art Alade also attended the ceremony and performed his song, Pray for Me, which featured Olu Jacobs and Joke Silva in its music video. Olugbenga Jacobs also presented his father’s biography during the funeral programme.
The funeral follows a Night of Tributes and Service of Songs held on Wednesday at Glover Memorial Hall, Lagos Island, where several Nollywood stars gathered to honour the late actor.

Olu Jacobs, whose full name was Oludotun Baiyewun Jacobs, died on September 16, 2026, at the age of 84. He had a career spanning more than five decades across theatre, television and film.
A private burial is expected to follow the funeral service.
