Madonna and Taylor Swift were among the biggest names at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, with both artists adding major honours to their careers during the ceremony held in Los Angeles.
Madonna emerged with seven awards from the ceremony, including Artist of the Year, Best Dance and Best Collaboration for her song “Bring Your Love” with Sabrina Carpenter. She entered the ceremony as the leading nominee with 13 nominations.
Swift also made history during the event. Her “The Fate of Ophelia” won Video of the Year, while “Opalite” earned the award for Best Direction. She also received the inaugural Artist Director Honors, recognising her work in music-video direction and visual storytelling.
The ceremony featured several other notable winners. LISA won Best Pop for “Dream” featuring Kentaro Sakaguchi, while British singer Sienna Spiro received the Best New Artist award.
BTS won Song of the Year for “Swim”, while Cardi B and Kehlani took Best Hip-Hop for “Safe”. Bruno Mars won Best R&B for “I Just Might”.
The ceremony, hosted by Snoop Dogg at the Peacock Theater, also featured performances and tributes celebrating major figures in music.
