The Federal Government has launched the Armed Forces of Nigeria Personnel Online Discount Shop to provide serving and retired military personnel, veterans and their families with access to essential goods at discounted prices.
The platform was launched in Abuja on Thursday by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume. The initiative is being implemented through a partnership between Defence Headquarters and Zinox Group, with Konga serving as the initial platform.
Akume said the scheme was designed to improve the welfare of military personnel by reducing financial pressure and making essential goods more accessible.
Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, said the initiative was part of broader plans to strengthen welfare for personnel, veterans and their families. He disclosed that more vendors and essential commodities would be added, while plans were also underway for physical outlets.
The initiative is expected to provide discounted access to products including household essentials, groceries, electronics, fashion items and other goods.
The Federal Government said the scheme demonstrates how digital technology and private-sector partnerships can be used to support the welfare of those serving and those who have served the country.
