The Ogun State Government has linked recurring flooding and harmful gas emissions in some parts of the state to improper waste disposal.

The government warned that indiscriminate dumping of refuse can block drainage channels, restrict the free flow of water and increase the risk of flooding during heavy rainfall.

It also raised concerns about the environmental and health effects of poor waste management, including the release of harmful gases from improperly disposed or decomposing waste.

The government urged residents, businesses and other stakeholders to adopt responsible waste disposal practices and comply with environmental regulations.

It said improved waste management remains essential to reducing environmental hazards and protecting public health across the state.
