Everton manager David Moyes is reportedly set to take a closer look at Super Eagles fullback Ryan Alebiosu when the Toffees face Blackburn Rovers in a behind-closed-doors friendly during the international break.
Alebiosu has emerged as an important member of the Blackburn squad since joining the Championship side in the summer of 2025. The Nigerian defender has made 49 appearances across all competitions, contributing one goal and six assists during his time at Ewood Park.
The former Arsenal fullback has maintained his consistency this season, featuring in every Championship match so far while also registering an assist in the EFL Cup.
His performances have reportedly attracted interest from Everton, who were said to have considered making a move for the defender during the summer transfer window. However, Alebiosu remained with Blackburn and continued to play a key role in the club’s campaign.
According to reports from Goodison News, Everton could use the international break to arrange a private friendly against Blackburn as Moyes looks to keep his squad match-fit during the extended three-week break.
The encounter could also give the Everton boss an opportunity to assess Alebiosu at close quarters, particularly with the Merseyside club expected to strengthen its squad when the January 2027 transfer window opens.
Everton are reportedly looking to add depth in several areas of the squad, including the fullback positions, potentially creating an opportunity for Alebiosu to strengthen his case for a move to Goodison Park.
The Nigerian international will be available for the proposed friendly after being left out of Eric Chelle’s squad for the Super Eagles’ Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixtures against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.
A strong showing against Everton could therefore increase interest in the 24-year-old defender as Moyes considers his options ahead of the winter transfer window.
Alebiosu was also part of Nigeria’s squad at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where the Super Eagles finished third. He made one appearance at the tournament before an injury prematurely ended his campaign.
