Presley Gerber, the 27-year-old model and son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, has died in Santa Monica, California, with police investigating his death as a suspected overdose.

Gerber died on September 20 after Santa Monica police responded to a report of a possible overdose at about 9:35 a.m. Officers found him deceased at the location, and paramedics pronounced him dead at 9:45 a.m. Police said there was no indication of foul play.

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner said an examination had been conducted, but the official cause and manner of death have been deferred pending additional testing. The medical examiner said determining the cause could take several months.

Gerber, who followed his mother into modelling, worked with major fashion brands and appeared in campaigns for companies including Calvin Klein and Celine. He had also spoken publicly about mental health and substance-use challenges.

His family has requested privacy following his death.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not yet established the substance involved or officially determined that an overdose caused Gerber’s death.
