The United States has reportedly refused visas for members of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s delegation, including members of his communications team, ahead of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.
The Iranian state media reports come days after Washington approved visas for a smaller core delegation, including Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The approved delegation will face travel restrictions and limits on purchasing luxury goods while in New York.
Pezeshkian is scheduled to address the General Assembly on Wednesday, amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran. The reported visa denials come as diplomatic efforts continue over the conflict between the two countries.
