President Bola Tinubu may intervene in the growing disagreement between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and some All Progressives Congress, APC, governors, as tensions rise ahead of the 2027 elections.
A senior presidential aide told The PUNCH that Tinubu is expected to engage both sides and seek a resolution to their differences. The intervention could take place in France, where the President is currently on vacation.
The disagreement is linked to Wike’s Rainbow Coalition, which he says is supporting Tinubu’s 2027 presidential bid while allowing politicians to support candidates of their choice in other elections.
However, APC governors, led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, have said they would not support any political arrangement that could weaken the APC or undermine the party’s candidates.
Wike has also accused some APC governors, including Uzodimma and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, of working against his political activities.
The presidential aide said Tinubu’s intervention would be aimed at preventing the disagreement from affecting cooperation among the political actors ahead of the 2027 elections.
