Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has given kidnappers and other criminals operating in the state’s forests 14 days to leave or face security operations.
The governor issued the warning as part of efforts to tackle kidnapping, banditry and other criminal activities in forest areas across the state.
Aiyedatiwa said the government would not allow criminals to use the state’s forests as hideouts or bases for carrying out attacks on residents.
He urged security agencies to intensify operations in affected areas and ensure that criminal elements are removed from the forests.
The governor also called on residents, traditional rulers and community leaders to support security efforts by providing useful information about suspicious activities in their communities.
The ultimatum comes amid ongoing efforts by the Ondo State Government and security agencies to improve safety and protect residents, farmers and other people who depend on the state’s forest areas for their livelihoods.
