Ark Investment Management founder Cathie Wood said a pledge by global AI leaders to slow the rapid development of artificial intelligence is a positive step toward securing the technology’s future.

Wood welcomed greater scrutiny of AI risks, saying industry leaders should acknowledge potential dangers as the technology advances. She said understanding those risks could help strengthen cybersecurity and support safer development.

The pledge follows calls from Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei to slow the pace of AI progress, backed by Tesla and xAI founder Elon Musk and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. The debate has also weighed on AI-related stocks as investors reassess the sector’s growth prospects.

Wood said she remains optimistic about AI’s long-term potential, while dismissing extreme predictions that the technology could threaten humanity within the decade.
