Europe and the United States resumed their Solheim Cup battle on Saturday with the two teams level at 4-4 after a fiercely contested opening day at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands.
The second day began with four foursomes matches, with both sides looking to gain an early advantage before the afternoon four-ball session.
In the opening match, Europe’s Maja Stark and Linn Grant faced the formidable American pairing of Allisen Corpuz and Nelly Korda. The American duo entered the contest with a perfect 5-0 record together in Solheim Cup foursomes, making them one of the strongest partnerships in the competition.
Stark and Grant made an encouraging start, taking an early lead before the Americans fought back. The match remained closely contested as both teams traded opportunities around the opening holes.

Leona Maguire and Esther Henseleit were paired against Jennifer Kupcho and Rose Zhang in the second match, while European rookies Mimi Rhodes and Nastasia Nadaud faced Andrea Lee and Auston Kim.
Rhodes and Nadaud, who impressed during Friday’s competition, made another fast start on Saturday. Nadaud sank a long birdie putt on the opening hole before the pair extended their advantage to two holes after three.
The anchor match featured Charley Hull and Lottie Woad against Alison Lee and Lauren Coughlin. Hull and Woad were involved in another closely fought contest, with the Americans briefly taking a one-hole lead after Hull and Woad struggled around the fourth hole.
The foursomes format requires teammates to alternate shots while playing a single ball, placing particular importance on teamwork, course management and communication. Each match is worth one point, while a tied match earns each side half a point.
The opening day ended with the teams tied after Europe and the United States each collected four points from the first eight matches. The Americans are defending the Solheim Cup after their victory in 2024, while Europe are seeking to regain the trophy on home soil.
A total of 28 points are available across the three-day competition. After Saturday’s foursomes, the teams will meet again in four-ball matches before Sunday’s programme of 12 singles determines the champion.
With the contest finely balanced, every hole carries added significance as both teams look to establish momentum heading into the final day.
