The Chief Magistrate Court 2 sitting in Yola, Adamawa State, has convicted and sentenced three men to two years and six months each for criminal conspiracy and theft of cattle.
The convicts, identified as Abdullahi Umar, Mudassir Adamu and Sirajo Hussaini, are residents of Jimeta in Yola North Local Government Area.
According to News Platform, the court sentenced each of them to six months imprisonment or a N50,000 fine for criminal conspiracy, and two years imprisonment or a N100,000 fine for theft of cattle under Sections 60 and 278(1) of the Adamawa State Penal Code Law 2018.
The convicts were arraigned before Chief Magistrate M.A. Adamu on September 4, 2026, on charges of criminal conspiracy and theft of cattle.
They pleaded guilty to the contents of the First Information Report after the charges were read and interpreted to them.
Following their plea, the prosecutor, Inspector Umar Abdullahi, applied for an adjournment to enable the prosecution call a witness to corroborate the plea.
The prosecution subsequently called the Investigating Police Officer, Inspector Anamanda Ali, from the CP Monitoring Unit, who narrated how the suspects were arrested after allegedly stealing goats and selling them to an unidentified buyer.
