Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State has been declared Open Defecation-Free (ODF) following sustained efforts by the government and local communities to improve sanitation and promote healthier living conditions.
The declaration marks a significant milestone in Taraba State’s campaign to eliminate open defecation and improve access to safe sanitation facilities across its communities.
Authorities said the achievement followed increased public awareness, community mobilisation and efforts to encourage households to construct and use proper toilet facilities.
The development is expected to contribute to improved public health by reducing the spread of diseases associated with poor sanitation and unsafe disposal of human waste.
Karim Lamido’s achievement also comes as other local government areas in Taraba work towards meeting the requirements for ODF certification, with sanitation campaigns continuing across the state.
The state government has continued to encourage residents and community leaders to sustain the gains and ensure that communities remain free from open defecation.
