Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has commended the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) for its transition from manual registries to advanced digital platforms, describing the adoption of Artificial Intelligence as a major step towards improving corporate governance and the ease of doing business in Nigeria.
The governor spoke on Thursday at the opening of the CAC Management Annual Retreat in Bauchi, themed “AI at Scale: Advancing an Intelligent Corporate Registry for Efficient and Trusted Service Delivery.”
Governor Mohammed said an efficient and transparent corporate registry is critical to attracting investment, supporting businesses and expanding economic opportunities.
He highlighted initiatives under his administration’s “My Bauchi Project” aimed at improving the state’s business environment by reducing bureaucratic bottlenecks, multiple taxation and unnecessary fees affecting entrepreneurs.
The governor urged the CAC to ensure that its deployment of Artificial Intelligence remains inclusive, secure and accessible to entrepreneurs across the country. He noted that the technology should help reduce registration delays, detect fraudulent companies, strengthen data integrity and improve confidence in Nigeria’s corporate registry.
CAC Registrar-General, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, SAN, disclosed that the commission is preparing to deploy Artificial Intelligence across its operations in collaboration with Google and its partners.
According to him, the AI-powered system will enable customers to receive instant compliance guidance and interact with the commission in English, Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo and Pidgin, with the potential to complete business registration within minutes.
The initiative is expected to reduce manual intervention, improve the detection of errors and fraudulent activities, strengthen data integrity and make business registration more efficient for Nigerians.
The development marks another major step in the CAC’s digital transformation agenda and reflects growing efforts to use technology to improve public services and create a more business-friendly environment.
