The Nigerian Navy has commissioned a solar-powered water supply project at Pindiga Cottage Hospital in Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State, bringing relief to the facility after years of water shortage.
The intervention, executed under the Chief of Naval Staff’s Special Intervention Quick Impact Projects initiative, includes a five-horsepower solar-powered borehole, water storage tanks and toilet facilities.
The Navy said the project was designed to provide reliable access to potable water for the hospital and surrounding community while improving healthcare delivery and living conditions.
Speaking at the commissioning, Rear Admiral Adamu Yahaya, who represented the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, said the initiative reflected the Navy’s commitment to civil-military cooperation and community development.
He noted that access to safe water was essential to public health and socio-economic development, expressing confidence that the project would improve the quality of life in Pindiga and strengthen relations between the military and local communities.
