The Mwaghavul Development Association, MDA, has condemned the recent attacks on communities in Mwaghavul land, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, which reportedly left 28 people dead.
The attacks occurred in Bin Mper and Murish communities, with homes, farmlands and other properties worth millions of naira destroyed. The association described the incidents as unprovoked attacks by armed bandits and expressed sympathy with families who lost loved ones.
The MDA called on the Federal Government, Plateau State Government and Mangu Local Government to make the protection of lives and property a top priority.
It also demanded sustained and decisive military operations to secure vulnerable communities, dismantle bandit hideouts and prevent further attacks across Plateau State.
The association commended security agencies for their response to the attacks, particularly the General Officer Commanding, 3 Division, Nigerian Army, who is also the Commander of Operation Enduring Peace.
The MDA also praised Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang for visiting the affected Bin Mper community, deploying security personnel and pledging relief support. It said the planned construction of access roads would also help security agencies respond more quickly to emergencies.
The association urged Mwaghavul youths to remain vigilant while operating within the law. It further appealed to governments at all levels to place the safety of citizens above political and economic considerations.
