Swiss hearing-care company Sonova has launched a new artificial intelligence-powered hearing-aid platform as it seeks to strengthen its position in the competitive global hearing-care market and meet its medium-term growth targets.
The new Phonak EON platform is Sonova’s third hearing-aid platform built around real-time AI technology. The company pioneered the use of real-time AI in hearing aids in 2024, using the technology to distinguish speech from background noise.
According to Sonova, EON features a smaller and lighter design and more advanced AI processing that can make speech twice as understandable while reducing the effort required to listen in challenging environments. The company expects the technology to appeal to both existing customers replacing older devices and people buying hearing aids for the first time.
The launch comes as Sonova focuses on accelerating growth through product innovation and wider adoption of hearing solutions. The company has set an ambition of reaching CHF 6 billion in revenue by fiscal 2030/31, while increasing access to hearing-care technology globally.
Sonova is also targeting growth in regions such as Asia-Pacific and Latin America, where ageing populations and relatively low penetration of hearing-care solutions are creating opportunities for expansion.
The Phonak EON platform launched first in the United States. Sonova plans to expand it to Australia and major European markets, including Germany, France, Italy and the UK, from mid-September, followed by a broader global rollout. Pricing has not yet been disclosed, although the company said the product is positioned within its premium portfolio.
The launch also supports Sonova’s financial outlook. For fiscal 2026/27, the company expects sales growth of 5% to 8% and core EBIT growth of 7% to 10%, both at constant exchange rates.
With AI increasingly becoming a key differentiator in hearing technology, Sonova is betting that improved speech recognition, greater comfort and smarter sound processing will encourage more consumers to adopt its products and help sustain its long-term growth strategy.
