Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to keeping the Yola Campus of the Nigerian Law School functional, well equipped and up to standard.
Governor Fintiri made the commitment when he received the Director General of the Nigerian Law School, Dr. Olugbemi Sola, who led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Government House in Yola.
The governor said his administration had constructed four hostel blocks at the campus, providing accommodation for about 80 students as part of efforts to improve facilities at the institution.
Fintiri also disclosed that the Rural Electrification Agency project, which is expected to provide two megawatts of electricity to Mbamba and neighbouring communities, was designed to also benefit the Nigerian Law School campus.
According to him, the campus is expected to enjoy a minimum of 23 hours of electricity supply daily within the next six months.
On the Certificate of Occupancy for the campus, Governor Fintiri said the Nigerian Law School would need to process the required documentation through the Surveyor General’s Office. He assured the institution that the title would be issued at a subsidised rate.
The governor also promised to intervene in the remaining challenges affecting water supply and compensation for residents at the campus.
Earlier, the Director General of the Nigerian Law School, Dr. Olugbemi Sola, commended the Adamawa State Government for its interventions at the Yola Campus.
She appealed to Governor Fintiri to engage other Northern governors and critical stakeholders to attract additional development projects to the campus, which she described as an institution of strategic importance to Northern Nigeria.
