President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended Nigeria’s security agencies following the successful rescue of 308 kidnapped victims in what has been described as the country’s largest single-day rescue operation.
The rescued victims include 163 persons abducted from the Woro community in Kwara State earlier this year and 145 others, most of whom were kidnapped in Niger State. They were freed during a coordinated intelligence-led operation by security forces and are currently receiving medical attention.
President Tinubu praised the bravery, professionalism and collaboration of the military, police and other security agencies involved in the operation, describing the rescue as a major milestone in the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening national security and ensuring that criminal groups responsible for abductions and related offences are brought to justice. The President also assured Nigerians that ongoing security operations would be intensified to protect lives and restore peace in affected communities.
The successful operation has been widely regarded as a significant boost to the country’s counter-kidnapping efforts, reflecting improved coordination among security agencies in responding to the growing security challenges across northern Nigeria.
