The Nigerian Army has announced a ₦60 million bounty for information leading to the arrest of two high-profile leaders of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), as part of intensified efforts to dismantle terrorist networks operating in the North-East.
Military authorities identified the wanted terrorists as senior ISWAP commanders believed to be coordinating attacks and insurgent activities within the Lake Chad Basin. The Army urged members of the public to provide credible information that could lead to their capture, assuring that the identities of informants would be treated with the highest level of confidentiality.
The development forms part of the Armed Forces’ ongoing counter-terrorism operations aimed at neutralising insurgent leaders, disrupting terrorist logistics and restoring lasting peace to communities affected by insecurity.
The military reiterated its commitment to sustaining coordinated land and air offensives against terrorist groups while strengthening intelligence-driven operations in collaboration with other security agencies and local communities.
Residents were encouraged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to the appropriate security authorities, as the military continues its efforts to eliminate terrorism and enhance security across the North-East.
