The Katsina State Government has announced plans to disburse N4 billion in community grants to finance grassroots development projects across wards in the state, as part of efforts to promote inclusive governance and accelerate local development.
The initiative is designed to empower communities to identify and execute priority projects that address their most pressing needs, including improvements in education, healthcare, water supply, rural infrastructure, sanitation, and other essential public services.
State officials said the community grant programme reflects the government’s commitment to participatory development by giving residents a greater role in determining projects that directly impact their communities.
According to the government, the funds will be allocated across wards through a transparent implementation framework aimed at ensuring accountability, proper monitoring, and efficient utilization of public resources.
The initiative is expected to stimulate socio-economic development at the grassroots, improve access to basic amenities, and strengthen collaboration between communities and government in delivering sustainable development outcomes.
Stakeholders have welcomed the programme, describing it as a significant step toward empowering local communities and ensuring that development projects are tailored to the specific needs and priorities of residents across Katsina State.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to improving the welfare of citizens through people-centered policies and strategic investments that foster sustainable growth and inclusive development throughout the state.
