Nigeria’s Debt Management Office (DMO) plans to offer ₦5.75 trillion in Federal Government of Nigeria bonds in the fourth quarter of 2026 as the government continues to raise funds through the domestic debt market.

The provisional issuance calendar schedules auctions for October 19, November 16 and December 14. The DMO plans to offer ₦1.75 trillion in October, followed by ₦2 trillion in November and another ₦2 trillion in December.

The offers will cover three existing government bonds with maturities in February 2034, September 2036 and June 2038. The September 2036 bond accounts for the largest share, at ₦2.8 trillion, while the June 2038 instrument represents ₦1.45 trillion. The February 2034 bond will account for the remaining ₦1.5 trillion.

The planned issuance follows a sharp increase in government bond allotments during the first nine months of the year. Between January and September 2026, allotments reached ₦7.15 trillion, more than double the ₦3.48 trillion recorded during the same period in 2025.

If the full fourth-quarter target is allotted, domestic bond borrowing for the year would reach approximately ₦12.9 trillion.

The DMO cautioned that the calendar is provisional and may be revised at short notice. The planned borrowing will be closely watched by investors as they assess government financing needs, interest rates and the outlook for Nigeria’s public debt.
