Nigerian civil society organisations (CSOs) have called on the United Nations to remove accreditation barriers and reverse the suspension of badges issued to non-governmental organisations, warning that the restrictions could limit African groups’ participation in global decision-making processes.
As reported by Guardian the organisations are demanding fairer access to UN platforms, arguing that civil society groups play an important role in representing citizens, promoting accountability and contributing to discussions on issues affecting communities across Africa.
They stressed that removing the barriers and reversing badge suspensions would help ensure that African non-governmental organisations have adequate representation and can contribute meaningfully to international policy discussions.
The appeal highlights wider concerns about the participation of civil society organisations in global governance and the need for inclusive platforms where diverse voices can be heard.
