The newly appointed Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 10 has pledged to strengthen security across Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states.
The AIG said the police would intensify efforts to tackle crime and improve the safety of residents across the three states.
The commitment is aimed at improving security operations, strengthening intelligence gathering and enhancing cooperation between the police and other security agencies.
The zone covers areas that have faced various security challenges, including banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery and other criminal activities. Strengthening police operations is expected to support efforts to protect lives and property.
The AIG also emphasised the importance of collaboration with state governments, community leaders and residents in addressing security concerns. Members of the public are encouraged to provide credible information to security agencies to help prevent crime and identify criminal suspects.
Improved intelligence sharing and coordinated security operations remain important in responding to threats and ensuring a safer environment for residents, businesses and travellers.
The pledge comes amid continuing efforts by security agencies to address insecurity in parts of northwestern Nigeria. Residents will be looking for practical measures that translate the commitment into improved safety across the affected states.
The police are expected to continue working with relevant stakeholders to strengthen law enforcement and maintain public order across Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara.
