The Tampa Bay Rays, Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers advanced to the League Championship Series on Wednesday after decisive victories in their respective MLB Division Series.
Tampa Bay completed a three-game sweep of the New York Yankees with a 4-3 victory in New York. Rookie Victor Mesa Jr. hit the go-ahead two-run homer in the sixth inning, while a controversial fan-interference call later prevented the Yankees from potentially tying the game.
The Dodgers also closed out their series against the Atlanta Braves, winning 4-1 to take the best-of-five matchup 3-1. Andy Pages delivered a two-run single in the seventh inning to break open a tight pitching duel and send Los Angeles into the National League Championship Series.
Milwaukee secured its place in the next round with a 3-1 win over the San Diego Padres, also finishing the series 3-1. Jackson Chourio provided the go-ahead hit, while Garrett Mitchell made a crucial defensive play to deny a potential tying home run.
The only Division Series still unresolved is the American League matchup between the Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Guardians. Cleveland avoided elimination with a 9-3 victory, cutting Chicago’s series lead to 2-1. Guardians pitchers struck out 19 batters, setting a postseason record for a nine-inning game.
