Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has approved and awarded contracts for the construction of the Yauri-Zamare Road and Yabo Road in Yauri, as part of efforts to improve road connectivity and infrastructure in the Yauri Emirate.

Governor Idris announced the projects during the flag-off of an empowerment programme for 1,500 beneficiaries organised in Yauri by former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Yusuf Tanko Sununu.

The governor said the projects were designed to provide infrastructure with direct and lasting benefits for residents, while improving connectivity and supporting economic activities in the area.

Idris also disclosed that funds had been released to the contractor handling the Yauri-Zamare Road to enable immediate mobilisation to site. He added that payment had been made to the contractor for the Yabo road project.

The governor assured residents of the emirate that his administration would continue to prioritise infrastructure, economic empowerment and social development projects across the state.

He also commended Sununu for the empowerment initiative, which targets youths, farmers, women and other vulnerable residents through cash grants, agricultural inputs, livestock and equipment.

The projects are expected to improve transportation, strengthen movement of goods and people, and support economic activities in Yauri and surrounding communities.
