Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has met with Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, amid ongoing political disagreements surrounding Wike’s Rainbow Coalition and the position of APC governors.
Fintiri’s visit to Wike was disclosed by the minister’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, who shared photographs of the meeting on social media. He described the encounter simply as a visit by the Adamawa governor to see Wike.
No official details were provided on the agenda or outcome of the meeting.
The meeting comes against the backdrop of disagreements between Wike and the Progressive Governors’ Forum over the Rainbow Coalition, a cross-party political platform associated with efforts to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election.
Wike has maintained that the coalition is focused on supporting Tinubu at the presidential level and does not prevent participating politicians from pursuing candidates or interests in governorship and legislative elections.
The APC Governors’ Forum, however, has opposed political arrangements that it believes could weaken the APC or its candidates.
Fintiri’s meeting with Wike has therefore attracted attention as political consultations intensify ahead of the 2027 elections. However, neither side has indicated that the meeting represents a new political alliance or disclosed any specific agreement reached during the encounter.
