With about 100 days to the 2027 general elections, political activities are gradually intensifying across Nigeria as political parties, aspirants and supporters prepare for another major electoral contest.
The approaching election is expected to be closely watched as Nigerians consider the performance of political leaders, the state of the economy, security, unemployment and other issues affecting their daily lives.
Political parties are already strengthening their structures, mobilising supporters and strategising ahead of the polls. Several politicians have also begun declaring their ambitions, while others are negotiating alliances and seeking support ahead of the primaries and general elections.
However, questions remain about whether Nigerians are fully prepared for another election cycle. Many citizens are concerned about rising living costs, insecurity, political tensions, voter apathy and the credibility of the electoral process.
The Independent National Electoral Commission is expected to play a major role in ensuring that eligible voters are registered and that the elections are conducted transparently and peacefully.
As the countdown continues, citizens will also have to decide whether to participate actively in the electoral process or remain indifferent.
With 100 days to go, attention is increasingly shifting towards the issues, candidates and choices that could shape Nigeria’s political direction in 2027.
