A member of a community vigilante group in Rivers State has been arrested over the alleged killing of a man whose remains were reportedly buried in a secret grave.
The suspect, identified as Felix Dibia, is a member of the Onelga Security and Advisory Committee, OSPAC. He was arrested by the Rivers State Police Command following an investigation into the alleged death and concealment of the victim’s body.
According to the police, investigators uncovered information linking the vigilante operative to the incident and subsequently traced the location where the corpse was allegedly buried.
The development has renewed concerns over alleged abuses by community vigilante groups operating in parts of Rivers State. While such groups are often established to support security agencies in tackling crime, authorities have repeatedly warned against taking the law into their own hands.
Police said investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the man’s death and determine whether other individuals were involved.
The suspect is expected to face prosecution after investigations are concluded, while the police continue efforts to gather evidence and establish the full facts of the case.
