The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is set to hold a World Press Conference and National Stakeholders’ Meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, October 6, as preparations for the 2027 general elections enter a major phase.
As reported by the Guardian the commission is expected to provide updates on its preparations, including the voters’ register, candidate nominations, logistics and measures aimed at protecting the integrity of the electoral process.
The engagement will bring together political party leaders, security agencies, civil society organisations, development partners, observer groups, religious and traditional leaders, youth organisations and media executives.
The meeting comes amid heightened political activities surrounding the 2027 polls, including party disputes, defections and consultations among political actors.
The event is scheduled for the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja and will be addressed by INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, alongside other stakeholders in the electoral process.
