Chevron has announced a major leadership reshuffle that will move Chief Financial Officer Eimear Bonner to the helm of its oil, products and gas business from January 1, 2027.
Bonner will become president of the division, taking responsibility for operations across Chevron’s oil and gas value chain. Jeff Gustavson, currently president of the company’s New Energies division, will replace her as chief financial officer.
The changes come as Chevron prepares for a broader leadership transition. Chief Executive Officer Mike Wirth has been discussing succession with the company’s board and has previously indicated that he does not expect to remain in the position for more than 10 years.
Mark Nelson, who currently leads the Oil, Products & Gas business, will leave that position in January but remain as vice chairman, where he will focus on strategy and business development.
Bonner brings extensive operational experience to the new role. Before becoming CFO, she served as Chevron’s first female chief technology officer and previously led Tengizchevroil, the company’s joint venture operating Kazakhstan’s largest oilfield.
The reshuffle places experienced executives in key positions as Chevron balances its core oil and gas operations with investments in newer energy businesses.
