Bandits Block Gusau-Sokoto Road, Abduct Travellers

Heavily armed bandits have reportedly attacked travellers along the Gusau-Sokoto Road in Zamfara State, blocking the highway and abducting some commuters.

The incident occurred around the Nasarawa area of Damba community, on the outskirts of Gusau metropolis, according to reports.

The latest attack has renewed concerns over the safety of motorists and passengers using the major highway, which has experienced repeated security threats linked to banditry and kidnapping.

The attackers reportedly operated with weapons, causing fear among travellers and disrupting movement along the route. The exact number of people abducted was not immediately clear at the time of the report.

The development comes amid continued security challenges across Zamfara and other parts of the North-West, where criminal groups have carried out attacks, kidnappings and other violent activities.
